How Learning and Teaching Works at UCA

Support for Learning and Teaching is distributed across UCA’s campuses. Heads of School are responsible for facilitating good practice in learning and teaching practice across their courses.

In support of this model, the university’ Student Success Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of learning, teaching and assessment strategies and the establishment of policies governing University approaches to pedagogy. It reports to the Academic Quality Committee on the enhancement of student learning opportunities, and for ensuring that best practice is captured and rolled out across the University.

Support for staff with Learning and Teaching is provided by:

    – Facilitating professional development in Learning and Teaching (HEA Fellowship, curriculum design)
  • Maria Tannant and Matthew Drury (Programme Managers in Digital Pedagogy)
    – Leading digital transformation in learning technology across the university
  • Tony Reeves and Dr. Nicholas Houghton (Subject Leader and Senior Lecturer on the Creative Education courses)
    – Leading professional development through the Postgraduate Certificate and MA in Creative Education
  • John Sutter and Sharon Hocking (Learning Enhancement and Support Managers)
    – Support with inclusive curriculum design
  • Liz Thomson, Ellen Brown, Steve Dixon-Smith, Katy Reeves, Nicola Whittingham (Learning Development Tutors)
    – Support with inclusive practice in design of new courses
