Disability & SpLD

UCA has twice the national average of students with a disability or a specific learning difficulty (SpLD). It is therefore highly likely that there is at least one student in a class who will require some form of specialist learning support.

ADSHE – The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education

BrainHE – information for students and staff about different types of neurodiversity including Aspergers, discalculia, and dyspraxia

The British Dyslexia Assocation – dyslexia advice and resources for students, parents and employers

Deaf Club – news and links to organisations that support people with hearing impairments

Disabled Living Foundation – factsheets and advice to support people with disabilities

Dyspraxia Foundation – an organisation committed to raising awareness about dyspraxia

London Sleep Centre – information on a range of disorders that can cause loss of sleep

MIND – a charity providing advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem

National Association of Disability Practitioners – an organisation which supports professionals working in the area of disability support

National Autistic Society – support for people on the autism spectrum and advice for families and support professionals

Skill – an organisation promoting equality in education, training and employment for disabled people
